Forex Flash: Emerging markets continue to attract good inflows – ANZ
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - AXJ funds reported a second week of outflows, driven mostly by equity outflows amounting to USD $752m. In comparison, bond funds attracted around USD $450m of inflows – according to the ANZ Research Team, “this is mostly due to China reporting a record USD $367m of inflows.”
Equity inflows for most AXJ markets were weaker than the prior week. The exceptions are Indonesia and Korea, which saw a slower pace of outflows. Meanwhile, Emerging Markets (EM) bond funds continue to attract good inflows. However, these inflows are mostly to local currency funds, with hard currency funds still reporting outflows. Global weekly equity inflows rebounded to USD $2.9bn due to increased equity inflows to DM funds. EM equity funds continue to see increasing outflows for the third consecutive week.
